Katherine "Kathy" McKinley Newsom

Katherine Newsom, 77, of Crystal Lake passed away on November 3, 2023. Katherine was born on April 24, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Frank and Martha McKinley. Kathy graduated from Robert E . Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL. then went on to attend Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA.  where she was a member of Zeta Delta Pi sorority.  She also graduated from Jones College and was an honorary member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Kathy was a homemaker; loved spending time with her family, and friends and caring for her grandchildren.  Kathy enjoyed attending her grandson's baseball games and jazzercise class. Kathy was loved by many and will be remembered as being very loving, fun, and kind.

Katherine is survived by her children, Stephanie Newsom, Joshua Newsom and Melissa (Mark) Clark; grandchildren, Kacie (Zachary Gregorio) Newsom, Madelyn Newsom, Boedi Newsom, Joshua (Cat Janszen) Clark, Harrison (Lauren Walko) Clark, and Thomas (Corryn Domina) Clark; great-grandchild, Mason Gregorio; and nieces, Stacy (Jonathan) Scott and Shannon (Mark) Allen and many great-nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Newsom who passed in 2011, and sister, Winifred (Robert) Slade.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 3pm until the time of service at 6pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL.
