Kathleen Ann Cronin

Kathleen Ann Cronin, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 at the age of 78.

She was born Apil 27, 1948 in Chicago, raised on the south side, the daughter of the late Paul and Patricia (nee McDonough) Cronin.

Kathleen was the loving mother of her sons, Michael (Ann Marie), Paul, CJ, and Sean (Tiffany) Bachmann; beloved grandma of Charlie, Sean, Brooke, Brianna, Ever More, Brendan, and Keeleigh; loving sister, of Kevin (Cheri) Cronin, Diane (Larry) Carron, Eileen (Dan) Downes, Maureen (Peter) Wright, and Tom Angelus.

Kathleen embodied the values of faith, family, resilience, and kindness throughout her life. Proud of her Irish Catholic heritage, she grew up in a large and loving family that included more than 70 first cousins. The importance of family remained at the center of her life and shaped the way she cared for those around her.

Kathleen was a devoted mother to her four sons. She was their biggest supporter, faithfully attending countless soccer and football games, practices, and activities throughout the years. Her encouragement, love, and steady presence helped shape the men they became.

A lifelong lover of books, Kathleen was an avid reader who carefully kept records of everything she read. She found joy in learning, stories, and the simple pleasure of a good book. She also had a special talent for crocheting and lovingly created countless Afghans for family members, friends, and loved ones. Each blanket was a gift of warmth, comfort, and love that will continue to be treasured for years to come.

Kathleen was a loyal and cherished friend to many. She maintained close friendships throughout her life and was known for her warmth, generosity, and dependability. As an active member of the Jaycees, she formed several lifelong friendships that remained important to her over the years. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and her friendships brought her great joy.

Of all her roles in life, being a grandmother was among her greatest blessings. She adored her seven grandchildren. She delighted in taking them on adventures to zoos, stores, parks, and wherever curiosity might lead. Kathleen encouraged them to experience the world, ask questions, and embrace new opportunities. The memories she created with them will be cherished forever.

Kathleen was a woman of remarkable strength. As the mother of four boys, she met life's challenges with determination, grace, and humor. In her final days, she displayed the same courage and resilience that defined her life, fighting until the very end with the strength that so many admired.

Though she will be deeply missed, Kathleen's legacy lives on through the family she loved so fiercely, the friendships she nurtured so faithfully, and the countless lives she touched with her generous heart.
