Kathleen M. (Ludwig Guiney) Haslett

August 17, 1939 — October 29, 2022

Davenport Crystal Lake

Kathleen, known as Kallie or Kal to those who loved her, was a whimsical spirited lady with a twinkle in her eye and a smirk on her lips.

The sixth of seven children, she survived all their crazy adventures to become a legal secretary prior to her marriage. Later, Kathleen was employed at McHenry County College as a facility secretary in the Math and Science Department. She was a painter, an admirer of this beautiful world and all the people in it, and she enjoyed the personalities and companionship of her cats.

John Guiney, her beloved husband, passed away unexpectedly in 1978. Bravely she led her then three teenage children and three-year-old daughter through life. Kathleen briefly remarried; however, John remained the love of her life and we believe that they are together again.

She is survived by her sisters, Betty (John) Greene and Cheryl (Ronald) Kluza; children, Kathleen (Eddy) Coopmans, Laura (Philip) Taylor, Brian Guiney and Colleen (Eric) Babcock; grandchildren, Ashley Guiney, Rachel Guiney, Heather Guiney, Vincent Coopmans, Vanessa Coopmans, Justin Taylor, and Kyle Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Kevin McDonough and Brayden Koepke.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lawrence and Kathleen; siblings, William Ludwig, Robert Ludwig, Joyce (Dick) Rossi and Edward Ludwig; and by her beloved husband, John R. Guiney.

A cancer warrior brave and true, shame on you cancer, you foul evil to have taken such a beautiful soul. Strong and independent until her last breath she left this world surrounded by her loving family into the arms of her Lord.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the future.
