Kathleen Mary Murphy Byrne

Kathleen Mary Murphy Byrne, 67, of Deer Park, Illinois passed away peacefully after a short illness on July 5, 2023. She was born on July 7, 1955 in Bronx, NY to Donald and Mary Murphy.

Kathy attended Jersey City State College for her undergraduate degree and then received her Masters in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She went on to work at Hackensack Hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey and then after a couple of years, she went to work on Wall Street at Merrill Lynch in their health department, where 39 years ago on July 5th, she met her future husband, Tom.

Kathy was an avid reader and extremely dedicated to her daily exercise. She thoroughly enjoyed classical music and also frequented the lyric opera in Chicago throughout the last 30 years. Her favorite time of the year was the Christmas season where she spent countless hours shopping and spreading the holiday spirit amongst her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling as well as spending time with her many friends and family.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Thomas Byrne; children Alyson Byrne of Chicago, Illinois, Thomas Byrne Jr of Jacksonville, Florida, her sisters Maureen Cuomo of Eagle, Colorado, Patricia (James) Riepe of Woodridge, New Jersey, Dawn (Joseph) Gareffa of Woodridge, New Jersey, and her brothers, Kevin (Lisa) Murphy of Verona, New Jersey, and James (Robyn) Murphy of Wallington, New Jersey; and by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father Donald W. Murphy, who died June 9, 1992 and her mother Mary J. Murphy (Sheridan), who died April 14, 2019.

Memorial visitation will be July 23, 2023, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Memorial Mass will be held on July 24, 2023 at 10:00am at Saint Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts) Barrington.
