Keith A. Stoeger, 77, of Lakewood passed away at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, IL on July 15th, 2026.
Keith was born on August 17th, 1948, to George and Ila Stoeger and grew up in Chicago’s Edison Park neighborhood where he graduated from Taft Hight School in 1966. Following high school, he joined the Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he attended Southern Illinois University, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees. During his time at SIU he met his wife Linda, with whom he recently celebrated fifty years of marriage.
After initially settling in Des Plaines, IL, where they welcomed two daughters, Keith and Linda moved to Lakewood in 1989 to be closer to Crystal Lake Central High School where Linda was teaching. Keith was very active in the community, serving on various lake committees and running the CLCC and YMCA Piranha swim teams his daughters swam for. He was a devoted family man who was happiest when spending time with his girls. Whether he was supporting them as a volunteer coach, cheering them from the sidelines, or working nights as a bouncer at The Cottage to help put them through college, he was a loving and ever-present figure in their lives.
Keith is survived by his wife, Linda A. Stoeger (Johnson), daughters Mary Stoeger (Mike Schindler) and Vivian (Mark) Myers, and his grandchildren, William and James Myers and Vivian Schindler. He is also survived by his brothers, Mark and Scott, his niece Ellen (Justin) King, and nephew, Stephen.
Keith’s family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and assistants at Northwestern Hospital in Huntley and Journey Care in Barrington for the caring treatment they provided.
A celebration of life will be held in August.
