Kenneth Lee Degner passed away on November 3rd, 2025.
Born on January 11th, 1951, Ken grew up in Barrington, Illinois, graduating from Barrington High School. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and obtained his Master’s degree from Saint Louis University. Ken was a Family Practice Physician Assistant for more than 40 years in Antioch and Wauconda caring for generations of families.
He loved his own large family with frequent gatherings and parties, including the "Degner Lip Sync Contests" of years past. Ken spent years coaching Little League baseball, enjoyed being on the water of the Chain O’ Lakes, and loved taking his children on new adventures.
He is survived by his son Dr. Benjamin Degner (Madeline) of North Carolina with grandchildren Mabel, Jane, and Harold. And by his son Timothy Degner (Amanda) of Oregon with grandchildren, Billy and Birdie. And by his loving and amazing partner, Brenda Bolich, and her children, Kennedy Scharff, Astrid Scharff, and Ridge Scharff. In addition, Ken is survived by his mother Ruth Degner, his brothers Jeff Degner (Marcie), Mark Degner (Karen), and John Degner (Delia) as well as his sisters, Janice Reynolds (Jim), Karen Riggs (Mike), and Mary Rebbe (Lou Hagele) and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded by his father, Edward Degner and is brother-in-law, Daniel Rebbe.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, November 21, at 10:30am at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St., Barrington, with a visitation to begin at 9am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The John Ritter Foundation and to the Friends of Volo Bog.
