Kermit D. Smiddy

Kermit D. Smiddy passed away peacefully March 6, 2024 in Barrington, his residence since 1957.  He was born July 27, 1937 to Kermit M. and Myrtle (Davis) Smiddy in Harlan County Kentucky.

Kermit was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He owned several businesses in town, worked at Barrington High School as head grounds keeper and served several years as an elected official for Cuba Township as Highway Commissioner.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Paul) Cornwell and Christine (John Blackwell) Johnson; grandchildren, Abby (Jeff), Sarah, Zack (Tiffiany), and Meridith; and great grandchildren, Leah, Caden, Lorelai, and Greyson; sisters, Brenda Hammer and Sandra Juckel; and brother, Michael.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna.

Memorial visitation will be from 11am until the memorial service at 1pm Saturday March 23 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Road) Barrington.  Urn burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington.
