Kevin Patrick Burkus, born July 9, 1969, a little wrangler, was born in Philadelphia PA. He passed peacefully September 25, 2023; Janesville WI.
We find comfort knowing that he had a long talk with God a week before he passed away due to prolonged medical issues. He passed away knowing he was loved by many and being hugged by his siblings. We find great joy knowing that he is reunited with our parents, extended family and many of his friends.
Kevin Burkus was a long-time resident of Crystal Lake. He was an avid fisherman and nature lover. This included a lot of camouflage and many fishing rods. He loved animals, especially dogs. He had a vast knowledge of music, passion for live shows and the art that came with it.
He was humble. Tender hearted. A good hugger. Kind and thoughtful. A quiet observer. Fiercely loyal. A funny prankster. He had a generous spirit and was dedicated to his family. He portrayed a great smile that almost always turned into an impish grin.
His journey, struggles and his life adventures provided great meaning and advice toward many people he encountered. He provided love, support and guidance to many people in their dark times. It is something he treasured and was very grateful for. He had a heart of gold- the best we’ve ever known! Please remember, let the love in your heart be the light that guides you through your darkest moments. Furthermore, we must continually love in such a way that the person you love feels free.
He is survived by; his twin brother, Brian Burkus (Kim); a sister, Colleen Gardner (John); and his niece, Josie Gardner. Additionally, he is survived by many loving extended family members, dear friends and concert enthusiasts.
A memorial visitation for Kevin will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL.
In lieu of flowers, please teach a child to fish, charter a boat, create a special memory with someone special, plant a tree in Kevin’s honor, enjoy nature, treat yourself to a live show, or donate to a charity of your choice. Continue to be grateful and never miss a Sunday show. Thank you for coming to the celebration of life, supporting the family and for always keeping it “reel!”
