Kimberly Jean Markgraf Cox

Kimberly Jean Markgraf Cox, 60, of Kildeer, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026. She was born on October 1, 1965, in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, to Robert and Diane (nee Kedzorski) Markgraf.

Kim dedicated much of her life to caring for and teaching children. She was a proud educator, holding her masters degree in Education and was most proud of her several endorsements in English as a second language for grades K-12. She had a gentle heart, endless patience, and a natural ability to make every student feel loved, safe, and valued.

Her compassion and kindness extended far beyond the classroom, and she touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Above all else, Kim cherished her children and family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.

Kim is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Franklin Cox; children, Blake (Julie Nguyen), Diana, and Cameron Cox ; parents, Robert and Diane Markgraf; siblings, Bob Markgraf Jr. and Lisa Hill; father in law, Franklin (Barb) Cox; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Billy) Chandler; beloved nieces and nephews, Caleb, Josh (Bethany),  Hannah, Zach, and Kramer; and great nephews, Drew and Theo. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and countless lives that were made brighter by her kindness.

Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Howard and Joyce Markgraf and Stanley and Helen Kedzorski; mother-in-law, Doris Cox; aunt, Kathy Murphey; and niece, Whitney Chandler.

Kim's legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet strength, and selfless devotion to others. She found joy in caring for children, supporting those she loved, and creating lasting memories with her family. Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
