Kristin Michelle Frerichs

Kristin Michelle Frerichs (Iddings), age 57, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on January 31, 2026, in Barrington, Illinois.

Born on July 18, 1968, in Elgin, Illinois, Kristin was the beloved daughter of Carol Iddings (Carlson) and the late James "Jim" Iddings. She grew up with a close-knit family and carried that sense of connection and warmth throughout her life.

Kristin dedicated over two decades as an educator for the Huntley School District. Her work touched countless lives, and she brought compassion, creativity, and dedication to her role. Outside of her professional life, Kristin’s greatest joy came from raising her children – who were the center of her world.

She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first grandchild, a new chapter she looked forward to with excitement and love. Kristin is survived by her children, Zachary (Jesse) Dermont, Abbygale (Adam) Nowell, and Teira Frerichs; her mother Carol Iddings; her siblings Mark (Donna) Iddings, Scott (Jodi) Iddings, Robin (Paul) Maxwell, and Gigi (Jason) Heisler; fathers of her children, Michael Dermont & Wayde Frerichs; her partner, Tom Duensing; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.

A free spirit whose smile and laughter could light up any room, Kristin was known for her selflessness, caring nature, and vibrant sense of humor. She found joy in gardening, spending time with loved ones, and searching for unique vintage treasures. Her life was a beautiful blend of nurturing others and embracing the simple pleasures that brought happiness to those around her.

A memorial service will be held on March 14, 2026 at Ridgefield–Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church starting at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will be planned for July 18, 2026 with further information to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kristin’s honor to the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation (GCCF).

Kristin’s kindness and laughter were a beacon of light in the lives of everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
