Larry Joseph Valio of Crystal Lake, beloved husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend, passed away February 25, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Larry was born in Chicago on March 10, 1949 to Louis and Geraldine Valio (nee Cinotto). He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a Quality Control Engineer for most of his post-military career. In addition to his love of the Chicago White Sox, he also loved reading, tinkering, the Beatles, camping, bowling, and playing golf. He loved his family deeply and would have given them everything he had to ensure their happiness.
On April 4, 1970, Larry married Josephine V. Zdunek at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Addison. He was the beloved husband of Josephine for over 52 years, along with the proud father of Jacqueline (Matthew) Eby, and even prouder grandfather of Jason and Virginia Eby. He was the dear brother of Louis (Gina) Valio and is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Alzheimer’s disease (and other dementias) is the #7 leading cause of death, globally, according to the (WHO) World Health Organization. Currently, there is not a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, and researchers aren’t sure why some people develop this devastating disease, and others don’t. As they work to understand this, they’re also working to find preventive techniques.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
