Laura Ann Montgomery “Nipper”, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July, 22, surrounded by family and dear friends. Laura was a long-time resident of Mount Saint Joseph in Lake Zurich Illinois.
Laura was born in Oak Park, IL on April 16, 1952 to S. Dean and N. Virginia (Kozlowski) Montgomery. Laura’s journey through life was not without some challenges. Laura suffered from encephalitis when she was only 18 months old and spent the remainder of her life having special needs due to her illness. Thanks to my mom and dad, family and Mount Saint Joseph, Laura DID have a full and rewarding life. Laura loved going on weekend visits to her sister or brother’s house, vacationing in Lake Geneva or Florida, cooking special dishes, going out to eat at Chili’s, having her coffee or occasional root beer, watching Christmas Vacation monthly, making crafts, working puzzles and laughing with friends/family. Laura had a great sense of humor and will be so missed.
Laura is survived by her loving siblings, Linda (Ron) Koy and David (Cynthia) Montgomery; dearest nieces Heather (Chris) Lis, Debbie (Jason) Imboden, Michele (John) Carpenter; nephews Michael (Gillian) Koy, Scott (Terrie) Montgomery, and Peter (Laura) Montgomery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother S. Dean “Christopher” Montgomery Jr., nephew Davie Montgomery, niece Maureen Montgomery and Collin Lis (11 yrs. old).
A visitation for Laura will be held from 9am until the time of mass at 11am on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Mount St. Joseph, 24955 N U.S. Hwy 12, Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Burial to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
To my sister that I love so much: Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. (From an Irish Headstone)
Laura’s illness took her very quickly with only 2 months between her diagnosis and passing. Laura did not suffer thanks to the excellent hospice care at Mount Saint Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura’s name may be made to Mount Saint Joseph, 24955 N US Hwy 12, Lake Zurich, Illinois 60047 or to the American Cancer Society.
