Laurence James Maher

Laurence James Maher, 92, of Barrington and formerly of Mount Prospect, was born on June 30, 1926 in Chicago and passed away on January 21, 2019 in Barrington. Laurence was a Senior Executive Vice President of Encyclopedia Britannica. He was the caring husband of Dolores (nee McSweeny) for 63 years; loving father of Peggy (Charlie) Emerson, Laurence Maher, Beth (Keith) Dinsmore, John (Jill) Maher and Kevin Maher; cherished grandfather of Robert, Kathryn (Bryan), Kate, Matthew, Ethan and Julia; dear great-grandfather of Eli. Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Maher; and his sisters, Mary (Joe) Fernandez and Angela (Bill) Selbach. Funeral Services will be held privately for family.
