Lawrence “Larry” Gill, age 79, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Reo and Celia Gill.
Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country honorably from 1965 to 1968. His strong work ethic defined much of his life. He spent an extraordinary 57 years as a machine operator at Union Special in Huntley, Illinois, a career that reflected his dedication, reliability, and pride in hard work.
Outside of work, Larry found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed taking leisurely drives, appreciating the quiet moments they brought.
Above all else, Larry treasured time spent with his grandchildren, which brought him the greatest joy.
Larry will be deeply missed by his son, Steve (Sandy) Gill; step-daughters, Lavonne (Dave) Kosmen, Rebecca (Scott) Nietert; grandchildren, Caden, Travis, Brynlee and Rylan; his sister, Patricia (Jim) Drake; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carol May and Thomas Gill.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 4 PM until the memorial service at 7:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
