Lawrence Westerlund

Lawrence Westerlund, of Inverness, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the age of 88.

He was born July 13, 1936 in Chicago, the son of the late Walfred and Catherine Westerlund (nee Wegrzyn).

Larry’s warm and gentle soul touched the lives of many, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom to all those who had the opportunity to know him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Tommy) Oeser of Sarasota, FL and Linda (Ahmed) Shaaban of South Barrington; his grandchildren, Nadia and Noah Shaaban; and his sister, Carol Ziegeldorf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Westerlund (nee Warner); and his brothers, Charles, Richard, and Ronald Westerlund.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at Windridge Memorial Park, 7014 S Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 pm followed by a memorial service from 3:00 - 4:00 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington. Details for dinner following the services will be announced.
