Lee M. Stevens, of Crystal Lake, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the age of 89.
He was born December 17, 1934 in Black Oak, Arkansas, the son of the late Charlie and Ruth (nee Lane) Stevens.
Lee spent his early years picking cotton with his eight siblings. He married Betty on December 30, 1954, and moved to Clovis, New Mexico. While serving in the Air Force and working at various jobs, he attended college and graduated sixth in the state. After his military service, he worked his way up in the Federal government conducting top secret investigations as Inspector General for various agencies. He enjoyed riding on his Farmall on his ten acres, watching his grandchildren play in the pool and helping them harvest their pumpkins. Lee loved his Catholic faith and devoted his life to making the world a better place.
In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, Lee is survived by his children, Edward (Kate) Stevens and Saundra (Mark) Zehrer of Crystal Lake; his grandchildren, Stacie Kayser of Crystal Lake, Todd (Natalee) Zehrer of Cary, Kirsten (Jorge) Hernandez of Lake in the Hills, Brandon Stevens of Lake in the Hills, and Sarah (Jeff) Winkler of Woodstock; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Hannah, Benjamin, Laela, Noah, Emmett, and Caden; and his siblings, Patsy (Jimmy) Thornton, Tommy (Teresa) Stevens, and Nina Sue (Bob) Watkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed, Lorine, Myrtle, J.C., and Charles.
