Leland Karolak

Leland Karolak, of Westchester, IL, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in Chicago on September 20, 1933 to the late Adam and Jane Karolak.

Leland proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. On November 24, 1956, he was united in marriage to Alma Anthony. Together they shared nearly 70 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with 2 children.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, skiing, rock climbing, boating and fishing. His hobbies were building and collecting model trains, trucks, and airplanes. He also loved watching trains, dancing and telling jokes. He had a lifelong curiosity and appreciation for the simple things that brought him joy. Most of all, Leland cherished his family.

Leland will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Alma; children, Susan (John) Sanfilippo and Norman Karolak; grandchildren, Jasper (Noelle) and Johnny Sanfilippo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 3 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.
