Lenore Dorothy (Mitchell) Rogala

Lenore Dorothy Rogala, nee Mitchell, age 98, a Crystal Lake resident and World War II veteran of the Marine Corps, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was born on December 24, 1923 in Chicago to Leon and Sophia Mitchell.

Her beloved husband, Joseph W. Rogala passed away a month before their 50th wedding anniversary.

The love of music has been passed on from generation to generation: Leon played the violin, Lenore could have been a concert pianist, Joseph played the accordion and all of Lenore’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have been blessed by the gift of music.

We will remember Lenore for her beautiful piano solos and her commitment to her family. Over the years, she took her children to countless classes, performances, musical adjudications, and baseball games.

She was known to have exceptional talents in the kitchen – recognized for her cookies, donuts, cakes, crepes, and pies. Curiosity led her to learn how to can fruits and tomato sauce with a family friend.

She was proud of her career as an executive secretary at Walgreen’s corporate offices in Chicago and Deerfield.

With a sharp mind, she loved playing pinochle. For many senior years, Lenore was the only woman to play at tables full of men.  Lenore was generous with her time. While in Crystal Lake she made hundreds of rosaries for her church’s ministry. She was a woman of great faith.

Lenore will greatly be missed by all who loved her.
