Leslie Witt, 61, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2026. She was born on December 25, 1964, in Normal, Illinois, to Samuel and Barbara Heer.
Leslie attended Illinois Wesleyan University, where she met Robert “Butch” Witt Jr., in 1983. They were married on September 5, 1987, and built a beautiful life together centered on love, family, and nearly 40 years of cherished memories.
Leslie’s greatest joy, and without question her greatest pride, was her children. Being their mom was the role she treasured most in this world. She was their constant, their biggest supporter, and their loudest cheerleader - whether she was on the sidelines of a game, sitting in the audience of a recital, or simply listening as they shared pieces of their lives with her.
She poured her heart into them. She celebrated every milestone, big or small, and carried their accomplishments as if they were her own. Watching them grow - from childhood games and dance recitals into the remarkable adults they’ve become - was one of the greatest joys of her life. Seeing them step into their professional careers filled her with a quiet, unwavering pride that never left her. It was in these moments, and in the everyday laughter they shared, that her love shined the brightest.
She created a life rooted in faith and family - full of traditions, vacations, holidays, and countless small moments that meant everything. No matter what, she had a way of making everyone feel deeply loved, seen, and celebrated.
A strong, successful, and dedicated businesswoman, Leslie owned and operated her own business for over 20 years. She was a natural leader who balanced her work with her deep devotion to her faith, children, family, and friends.
She found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments - especially tending to her flowers, where she spent countless hours caring for them with patience and love.
A devoted member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Leslie’s faith guided her throughout her life.
At the start of 2025, Leslie made a New Year’s resolution: to “sparkle,” no matter what life brought her way. Just weeks later, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer—but even in the face of fear and uncertainty, she never let her sparkle fade. She continued to live fully - skiing in Beaver Creek, celebrating birthdays and holidays, golfing, planting flowers, decorating her Christmas trees, and traveling with her family. Through it all, she brought joy, laughter, and light to those around her.
Leslie loved deeply, gave endlessly, and had a gift for making people smile - even on the hardest days. That is how she will always be remembered.
Leslie is survived by her husband, Robert “Butch” Witt Jr.; children, Andrew “Drew” Witt, Alexandra “Ali” Witt, and Amelia Witt; her mother, Barbara Heer; siblings, Sam (Tracy) Heer and Christina (Tim) Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Heer.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24)
