Lillian J. "Lolly" Buckingham

Lillian Joan “Lolly” Buckingham, 91 years of age and resident of Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, with her two children by her side.

She was born on March 17, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Lillian (Burke) Moreau. In addition to Chicago, the family lived in Dallas, Texas, and Appleton, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to the late Ralph Buckingham Jr., who passed away in 1997. The two built a beautiful life and family together, taking the opportunity to live in England for two years after Ralph’s retirement. In 2011, Lolly moved to the Garlands in Barrington, where she would reside until her passing. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Lillian was also a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Barrington, IL. She will be missed by many.

Lolly is survived by her children Susan (John Dwyer Jr.) Buckingham of Potomac, Maryland, and Mark (Bobbi) Buckingham of San Tan Valley, Arizona; grandchildren Raeann (Sam Nixon) Buckingham, Amanda (Morgan Burgess) Buckingham, Curtis Buckingham, Josh Buckingham, and Sean Dwyer; great-grandchildren Leila Burgess, Calie Burgess, Wyatt Burgess, Henry Nixon, and Benjamin Buckingham; nieces and nephews Deborah (Skip) Boyd, David (Cathy) Slack, Diane (Terry) Greco, Daniel (Bari) Slack, Denise (Tom) Ryan, Dayle (Ryan) Ellis, Timothy (Heather) Foster and Anne (Ted) Stephanos; sister-in-law Sally (Reese) Buckingham Foster; as well as other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Buckingham Jr.; parents Arthur and Lillian Moreau; sister Patricia Slack; brother-in-law Lowell Slack; and nephew Doug Slack.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington, IL 60010, with a prayer service beginning at 7:30. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela Street, Barrington, IL 60010. Private interment to take place at All Saint’s Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
