Linda Louise Carlson

Linda Louise Carlson, a woman of unmatched color, singular wit, and undeniable presence, peacefully transitioned on June 28, 2026, at the age of 73.

To know Linda was to experience a whirlwind of vibrant, dramatic flair and a spirit that refused to be boxed in. She had a truly singular sense of humor—expressing herself through funny, impromptu poems and unique doodles that left her family laughing and occasionally bewildered. Frankly, she is likely looking down right now, thoroughly enjoying the fact that absolutely everything is about her today.

Born to the late Cecelia Margaret McGovern and Frederick Ernest Mensch, Linda grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Her marriage later took her on adventures across Colorado, Texas, and Missouri, before she ultimately made her way back home to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her stepfather Robert James Muench, and her husband, Lawrence Gustav Carlson.

Linda possessed an incredible skill to gather a village around her for support, connection, and deep love. Whether she was reminiscing about her college days, enjoying friendly neighborhood chats in the cul-de-sac, enjoying the beautiful lake view from her condo balcony, quietly reading a good book, or giving her beloved cat, Cocoa, hors d'oeuvres, she did it with a passion that was entirely her own. Anchored by her lifelong best friend, Lynn Herrick, her village will deeply miss the intense joy, the unapologetic authenticity, and the endless laughs she brought into the world.

Her vibrant legacy is carried on by her daughters, Stephanie Lynn Chadwick and Kimberly Ann Carlson; her cherished granddaughter, Avianna Lynn Carlson; and her surviving siblings, Frederick Thomas Mensch and Sandra Elizabeth Ruskoski.

The family and close friends will celebrate her life in a private gathering. They deeply appreciate the outpouring of love, stories, and support from everyone who formed a part of Linda's cherished village.
