Linda S. (Steinbraker) Van Bladel

Linda S. Van Bladel, 73, of Cary passed away peacefully Monday, June 20, 2022.  She was born in Evanston, IL on December 2, 1948 to Milton and Marge Steinbraker.

Linda graduated from Wheeling High School in 1966 and continued on to Trinity College in Deerfield, graduating in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education.  She taught in School District 21 for 36 years before retiring in 2006. During her career, she earned her Masters Degree in Special Education.

In 1971, she met the love of her life, Jerry Van Bladel. They were married on August 12, 1972.

Linda loved her Lord Jesus and is rejoicing with Him today. An active member of Living Grace Community Church, Linda enjoyed working with the youth programs over the years.

When Linda wasn’t working with children, she was knitting, crocheting or quilting for a new baby or family member. She enjoyed playing the flute early on in the Marching Band and later on for church. Linda was an animal lover and her dogs were a special part of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry; sons, Michael (Terri), Jonathan (Cate), and James; grandchildren, Eamon and Willa Rose; siblings, Diane (John) Schmidtke, Bob (Kathy) Steinbraker, John (Annette) Steinbraker, and Tom Steinbraker; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, from 4pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich.  A visitation will continue on Friday morning from 9am until the time of a service at 10am at the funeral home.  Interment will be held privately at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Linda’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association .
