Lyla Sublett, 96 of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023. She was born on October 17, 1926 in Albany, Kentucky to the late James and Nellie (nee McClure) Grider.

Lyla married the love of her life, James Sublett, in 1949 and began their family. Together, they created a loving home for their family in Edison Park where they stayed for many years. Lyla was member of the Edison Park Methodist Church for over 50 years where she also made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, word puzzles, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children, Jeannette Kollios and James (Anna) Sublett; grandchildren, Thomas (Jill) Ferris, Bessie (Jamie) Krupp, Nicholle (Sean) McHone, Matthew Kollios, Kristen (Charles) Schulz, Ashley (Joseph) Bechtold, Kyle Kempten, and Krystal (Robert) Schrantz; great-grandchildren, Michael and Timothy Krupp, Natalie, Charlotte and Lauren McHone, Georgia Kollios, Isabella, Jordan, and Joseph IV Bechtold, James and William Sublett-Schulz and Annabelle and Ella Schrantz; sister, Joyce Stafford; and son-in-law, John Oswald.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Sublett; daughter, Jennifer Oswald; siblings, Benton Grider, John Grider, Dean Dowell, James (Sam) Grider, Chester Grider, Donald Grider, Jessie Grider, and Roxie Martin; and son-in-law, Mike Kollios.
