Lynne Babinsky

Lynne Sharon Faris Babinsky, age 81, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 8, 2025, in Barrington, Illinois. Lynne was born on December 14, 1943, in Evanston, Illinois, to Paul Faris and Helen (Lind) Faris. She grew up in Downers Grove with her parents and three siblings, where her many talents in design, art, and sports began to emerge at a young age. The oldest of four children, Lynne was bright, creative, cheerful, and friendly, always eager to share her many gifts. Whether through her warm conversations, artistry, interior design, or spirited competition, she brought joy to those around her.

After attending Western Illinois University for a time and working for Illinois Bell, Lynne found her true love, Laddie Babinsky, in a whirlwind romance that blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and the two built a beautiful family. They were happily married for 47 wonderful years, until Laddie’s passing in 2011.

Lynne and Laddie made their home in picturesque Riverside for 50 years, where they raised their two children, Michael and Michelle. Riverside became Lynne’s canvas to grow and develop her many talents. She was a Brownie leader, Cub Scout leader, and Picture Lady for her kids. She then poured her creativity into her house, her castle. It is here that she poured her heart and soul into interior design, her passion and career for over 30 years. She loved gardening too, and transformed every space inside or out into something magical, warm, welcoming, and uniquely hers. Lynne was an active member of several groups and loved people. She played bridge and tennis and was a part of several book clubs throughout the years. She loved curling up with a good book and getting lost in the stories. In her later years, Lynne was in charge of the Brookdale Book Club, where she brought people together to share their love of reading and fellowship.

Lynne was a great hostess and loved to entertain. Her warm, welcoming nature drew people to her. The couple cherished time spent with family and lifelong friends, bonds that spanned decades and were filled with laughter, traditions, and shared experiences. They hosted cherished Christmas Eve gatherings for family and Christmas morning brunches for friends, with Lynne transforming their home into a stunning Charles Dickens–inspired Christmas display for all to enjoy. Later in life, Lynne and Laddie enjoyed traveling together to Europe, including Prague, Rome, and Paris, as well as to New Orleans, Charleston, and Las Vegas.

Above all, Lynne’s greatest happiness came from time spent with her children and seven grandchildren. She delighted in watching them grow, cheering them on in their sports, activities, and musical pursuits, and she enjoyed attending as many events as possible with her husband, Laddie, and after he passed. In her later years, Lynne was especially grateful for the blessing of six great-grandchildren, each one bringing her tremendous pride and joy.

Lynne is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Mike) Obsuszt, and their four children: Ashley (John) O’Brien, Ryan (Cassidy) Obsuszt, Kyle Obsuszt (Ellie), and Tyler. She is also survived by her grandchildren through her late son, Michael Babinsky: Derrick Babinsky(Jenny), Tessa Babinsky(Justin), and Daniel Babinsky. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Laddie, and her son, Michael.

She is further survived by her brothers, Paul (Jan) Faris and Phillip (Mary) Faris, and her sister, Phyllis (Bob) Brown, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who cherished her deeply.

Lynne loved life and had an eternally young spirit. She once said that she lived life exactly the way she wanted. She wanted others to know that her earthly life was a very good life—and that she now finds peace in eternity with her beloved Laddie and her son Michael, whom she missed dearly. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her family, the beautiful spaces she created in homes and hearts, and the creative gardens she lovingly nurtured throughout her life.

Until we meet again.
