Margaret Mary Schohn, of Woodstock, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the age of 59.
She was born August 1, 1966 in Hoffman Estates, the daughter of Lawrance and Barbara Schohn.
Margaret was unmistakably herself—strong-willed, fiercely opinionated, and deeply loyal to those she loved. She would drop everything to help family and friends in any way they needed, always standing as their most devoted protector. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished her role as a grandmother above all else. She delighted in giving her children not only what they needed, but what they wanted, especially the things that captured the spirit of the times.
A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, a love passed down from her father and nurtured through years of season tickets and even a treasured spring training trip, Margaret carried that passion proudly. She shared her love of reading with her daughter, filled her days with country and rock music, and lived with her whole heart. Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering devotion as a caregiver to her parents, her children, and her beloved grandson, Theo.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Jose Higareda; her children, Gabriella (Brett Taylor) Higareda of Huntley, and Corey Higareda of Woodstock; her grandson, Theo Higareda; parents, Lawrance Schohn and Barbara Murin; brother, Peter Schohn; sister-in-law, Sandra Torres; brother-in-law, Candido (Vanessa) Higareda; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrance Schohn, Sr.; Stanley and Tillie Narel; stepfather, Joseph Murin, Jr.; mother-in-law, Esperanza Avina; aunt, H. Kathleen Klonicke; father-in-law, Antonio Flores; and brother-in-law, Oscar Torres.
Friends are welcome to visit with Margaret's family on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave, (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
