Margery Phyllis (Knecht) Nicodem

Margery Phyllis Nicodem (nee Knecht), age 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 28, 2022.

Margery was born in Chicago, IL on September 02, 1927. Margery met the love of her life, Harold, and they were married in December 1946. Margery and Harold had 5 children and she did a wonderful job caring and providing for their many needs. Margery enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and preparing and freezing vegetables from Harold’s garden. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always kind and loving towards them.  Marge also enjoyed knitting, crochet, sewing, singing, and playing the organ.  She enjoyed spending time with her many friends from Bethel Community Church which included trips to Shipshewana, and other fun places. Margery will be sorely missed by both her family and friends.

Margery is survived by her loving children, Nicole (the late Paul) Jacobs, Carolyn (Chuck) Hall, Janet (Randy) Smith, Leslie (Ken) Olsen, and Harry Nicodem; cherished grandchildren, Tracy Welch, John (Michele) Dovgin, Matthew Jacobs, Charlie Hall, Bryan (Amelia) Hall, Audrey Hall, Jennifer Smith, Erik (Jenna) Smith, Ruth (Jeremy) Clark, Elizabeth (Drew) Lusk, Lindy (Chris) Hammond, Amy Olsen, Tyler Nicodem; sister, Jeannine Jecha; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Nicodem; grandson, Kenny Olsen; great-granddaughter Tamika; her mother and father; and brothers, Frederick, Stanley, Roger, and Donald Knecht.

A visitation for Margery will be held on Thursday October 6, 2022 from 1pm until the time of service.  Service time is 3-4pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL on October 11, 2022 at 1230.
