In Loving Memory of Marguerite Hontos
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marguerite Hontos, who left us peacefully on November 17, 2025, at the age of 88. She was a beloved mother, friend, and Yi Ya whose kindness, warmth, and laughter touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
A Life of Love and Dedication
Born in Chicago, Marguerite grew up with a passion for her church, family, and community. She dedicated her life to her family and her church, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and integrity. Marguerite's devotion to her community was evident in her volunteer work and the countless lives she impacted through her tireless efforts and compassionate heart.
Cherished Family and Friends
Marguerite is survived by her children, James (Annie) Hontos and Georgia (C. Russ) Catt; grandchildren, Russell (Amelia) Catt and Anthony Catt; and her siblings, Toula (Jerry) Garbis and James (Collette) Demas who will forever cherish the memories and lessons she shared.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her sister, Kickie Markos, and her brother, Steven Demas.
Celebration of Life
A celebration of Marguerite’s life will be held on December 3rd, beginning at 11 a.m., at The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Chapel in Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2905 Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL 60171. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the beautiful life she lived. This gathering will be a time to reflect on the joyful moments and the profound impact she had on those around her.
Marguerite will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her, inspiring acts of kindness and generosity for generations to come.
