Mariam El-Aboudi, 81, of Lake Zurich passed away peacefully into the eternal light to be with the Lord, holding the hand of her beloved husband, David, on February 2, 2024. She was born on January 15, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA to Neobi and Martha Jacob.
Her career started in 1964 at the National Bank of North Chicago, starting as a teller all the way up to personal banking officer. While she worked at the bank, she also helped her husband, David, with his various businesses such as, El's Superette Grocery Store and Bowlarium Lanes. It was in these endeavors where many lifelong friendships were formed with the people they met, all the while raising a family.
Mariam was a hard-working, creative, intelligent, strong, trail-blazing, loving, caring and faithful woman of God. She was a phenomenal cook and exceptional hostess for friends and family near and far. Mariam’s passion was home improvement - she enjoyed helping family and friends renovate and remodel. Above all, she loved to spoil her grandchildren – from candy to hugs and kisses.
Mariam was a kind and generous person, always giving of her time and talents. Her energy was limitless. She cherished her family above all else. She's left an immense void in our hearts but her spirit will be with us always.
Mariam will be deeply missed by her loving husband of over 60 years, David; children, Bill (Sue) Nazha, daughter-in-law, Carrie Ann, Ruthann (Stu) Vinnes and Elaine (Parley Casto) El- Aboudi; grandchildren, David, John, Jennifer, Emily, Brett, Tyler, Elizabeth, Abigail, Olivia and David; her siblings, twin sister Nora (the late John) Shahin, Martha Schwartz, Sandy (George) Santorilla, Dolly (the late Herb) Clowers and Nabih Jacob; and by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael El-Aboudi and her brother, David Jacob.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4 PM until the 7:30 PM funeral service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , Mariam's favorite charity.
