Marilyn Jane Falkenberg

Marilyn Jane Falkenberg (nee Mueller), 94 of Crystal Lake, passed to eternal rest in the Lord, on August 1, 2024. Marilyn was born November 15, 1929, in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Reinhold & Emily (Hanebauer) Mueller.

She married Robert H. Falkenberg on April 7, 1951, and they lived their early life in Des Plaines, IL, moving to Crystal Lake, IL in 1974. Robert preceded her in death in 1999, just short of their 48th anniversary. 

Surviving are her daughters, Carol (James R. Jr.) Jestus, of Huntley, IL and Sandra (Michael) Louis of Columbia, IL, along with grandchildren, James R. “Jimmy” Jestus III, of Huntley, IL; Katherine S. “Katie” Ockerlund (Kyle) of Sunnyvale, CA; Joseph Louis of Tuscola, IL, and Matthew Louis, of Columbia, IL, along with dear nieces, nephews, and their children. 

She cherished her many life-long friends from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, as well as dear girlfriends from St. James Lutheran Church in Chicago and Robert A. Waller (now Lincoln Park) High School, as well as her supportive and kind neighbors, friends, and a special caregiver who touched all our lives. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Arthur (Elouise), Alvin (Ruth), Erwin (LaVern) Mueller, and her sister, Ruth (Karl) Lawenstein. 

Marilyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, an avid card player, bowler, crafter, and church and community senior club member. She is remembered for her independence, self-determination, love of coffee, and the blessed assurance she drew from her faith in Jesus Christ. 

The funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, IL Tuesday August 6, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation preceding at 10:00 am. Private interment at Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines.
