In Loving Memory of Marilyn Jean Mittelhauser (nee Miller)

Marilyn Jean Mittelhauser (nee Miller) gracefully departed this world on Tuesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by the love she so generously shared throughout her remarkable life.

Born in Barrington, IL, on June 30, 1930, to Robert and Caroline Miller, Marilyn's journey was one marked by purpose, love, and a steadfast commitment to family and community.

Marilyn's academic journey led her to the halls of Elmhurst College, where she graduated in 1953. Embarking on her professional career, she began as an Accounts Payable clerk at BARCO Manufacturing Company in Barrington, Illinois.

In December of 1953, Marilyn united her life with Del Mittelhauser, the love of her life. Together, they formed a family, welcoming their daughter Patricia in 1956 and their son John in 1962. Marilyn devoted herself to being a nurturing stay-at-home mom, creating a loving and supportive environment for her cherished children.

Returning to the workforce in 1970, Marilyn served as the township's account government worker for Cuba Township. Her dedication and skills led her to Barrington Township, where she served as the town clerk's accountant until her well-deserved retirement in 1992.

In July of the same year, Marilyn and Del experienced the joy of becoming grandparents with the arrival of their only grandchild, Rebekkah. Marilyn's heart overflowed with love and happiness.

Marilyn's compassion extended beyond human relationships to her furry companions. She treated each pet as a cherished family member, spending quiet moments completing crossword puzzles with her beloved cat, Tuxie, by her side. Her connection with nature was evident in her care for the birds and deer that graced her backyard from the Kettle Moraine Forest.

Guided by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Luke 6:31), Marilyn embodied kindness and warmth. Her legacy of love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Marilyn is survived by her loving granddaughter, Rebekkah (Cory) Jensen, and great-grandchildren, Cooper Jensen and Carter Jensen.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Delbert Mittelhauser; children, Patricia Brellenthin and John Mittelhauser; and parents, Robert and Caroline (nee Klingenberg) Miller.

A graveside service to honor Marilyn's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Evergreen Cemetery, 610 S Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Marilyn's name to Elmhurst College of Elmhurst, Illinois, and Pacemaker Clinic of St. Marys/Dean Ventures, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin. Your contributions will continue Marilyn's legacy of compassion and community support.
