Marjorie “Marge” Leibert, age 91, passed away on October 17, 2024 at Florence Nursing Home, in Marengo, Illinois.
She was born on May 19, 1933, in Elgin, Illinois to Otto W. Moeller and Frances (Way) Moeller.
She married Kenneth Leibert on June 9, 1951 in Burlington, Illinois. They were married for 49 eventful years until his passing in November of 2000. Marge was a hard worker and held a few diverse jobs in her working life. She cleaned houses, took in ironing in the days when men wore starched white shirts to work every day, was the dispatcher for Barrington Cab Company. She managed Ma & Pa’s Country Candy Store in Long Grove, Illinois which still is in business today. She concluded her working career at Sam’s Club and Walmart.
Always at the forefront however was Mom’s unconditional love and support for her family. She cared for her mother and disabled sister after her father died. She took care of our Dad when he became ill. Mom never said no when asked to babysit for one of her grandchildren or great grandchildren. She loved them all unconditionally and they adored her in return. She could always be counted on to deliver a fully cooked meal, prepared by her, to the front door, if you were sick, if you were celebrating or mourning or simply because she thought you needed a break.
Marge is survived by: daughters Rosemary (late Don) Sanders, Melody Bishop; grandchildren Matt (Gabrielle) Luehr, Stephanie (Bob) Purcell, Kristopher (Molly) Prow, Heather (Scott) Bruno and Holly (Donnie) Fritts; great grandchildren Stephanie (Dan) Jackson, AJ Luehr, Bridget, Cecilia and Eileen Purcell, Eli and Nick Bruno, and Kris Fritts; great-great grandchildren Abigail, Teddy and Isabella Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.
The family would like to thank Florence Nursing Home staff for the kind and loving care extended to Mom in her last months.
Visitation will be from 10am until the funeral service at 12pm Friday October 25 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176) Crystal Lake.
