Mark "Buck" Paul Buchholz

Mark "Buck" Paul Buchholz, 60, of Fox River Grove, passed away at home on October 10, 2025. He was born on November 7, 1964 in Park Ridge to the late Wayland and Dorothy (née Krinker) Buchholz.

Mark was a proud graduate of Wheeling High School and carried with him a deep love for nature throughout his life. He enjoyed feeding the birds, watching the deer, and spending quiet time outdoors. It brought him peace and joy.

Mark’s fascination with sharks began the moment he saw Jaws — a film that, for most, might instill fear, but for him, sparked a lifelong passion. From that first viewing, sharks weren’t monsters, but magnificent creatures worthy of awe and respect, especially the Great White. Each year, he looked forward to Shark Week like a holiday, diving into every documentary with the enthusiasm of a true fan.

He was also a lifelong fan of Chicago sports — none more so than the Blackhawks. Mark never missed a game, always cheering with passion and pride. Whether they were winning or losing, he stood by his teams with unwavering loyalty.

Music was another constant in Mark’s life. He loved listening to the radio and especially enjoyed classic rock. Led Zeppelin was his favorite band, and their songs often filled his home.

But perhaps what defined Mark most was the bond he shared with his mom. Their time together — whether spent laughing at Mr. Bean, marveling at the chaotic genius of Breaking Bad, or enjoying the timeless slapstick of The Three Stooges — was sacred. Their shared sense of humor and love of great storytelling made those hours more than just entertainment; they were moments of connection, warmth, and love.

Mark is survived by his sisters, Barbara J. (Robert) Clements of Algonquin, Sharon J. Hahne of Cary, Lisa G. Powell of Carpentersville; his nephew and nieces, Matthew Clements of Crystal Lake, Caitlin (Joe Greene) Hahne of Kenosha, WI and Jordanne Powell of Carpentersville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, George Hahne.
