Mark Nagel, 53, born on February 9, 1973 in Sewickley, lived a life defined by passion, loyalty, creativity, and a deep love for his family and friends. He will be remembered for the love he shared, the memories he created, his generous spirit, unmistakable sarcasm, creativity, and the genuine friendships he built throughout his life. Above all, Mark was known for his unwavering dedication to those he cared about most.
Mark passed away May 12, 2026, and was preceded in death by his father, Gary Nagel Lubich.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Rose; his sons, Marcus and Bryan, of Crystal Lake; and his mother, Judy, of Dallas. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and countless others whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Mark graduated from Blackhawk High School before attending Kent State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Education in 1995. Following graduation, he moved to the Chicago suburbs, where he worked for Cast Metals Institute before later joining Lowe’s Home Improvement, where he remained until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Mark pursued many passions. He loved football from a young age, both as a player and later as a youth coach for his sons. He especially enjoyed watching Marcus and Bryan play football, track, and lacrosse.
But anyone who knew Mark understood that his greatest lifelong fascination was automobiles. From the time he was a child, Mark’s imagination and talent revolved around cars. He could often be found lying on the floor for hours studying Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars, carefully sketching and customizing them with extraordinary detail. That childhood passion grew into a lifelong hobby and expertise. Mark became an avid auto modeler and enthusiastic collector of all things automotive.
His pride and joy was his 1967 Pontiac Bonneville, which was featured int the August 2010 edition of Collectible Automobile. Mark especially cherished attending car events and shows with his wife, sons, and his father Gary in his 1971 Pontiac LeMans.
Yet as much as Mark loved cars, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He married the love of his life, Rose, in October 5th 2007, and together they built a life centered on love, laughter, family, and creating memories. Rose, Marcus and Bryan were truly the center of Mark’s world, and he never hesitated to express how proud he was of all the accomplished.
Mark and Rose loved camping and exploring America’s National Parks, coming just short of visiting all 50 states in their camper. They cherished the peacefulness of the outdoors, exploring nature, and spending evenings around a campfire with the people they loved the most.
