Visitation for Martin D. "Marty" Rogers, 58, of Barrington, formerly of Minneapolis, MN will be held on Saturday, March 13 from 3 to 8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 19th at Crosslake Lutheran Church, 35960 County Road 66, Crosslake, MN. Marty was born on September 13, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN. He passed away peacefully on March 6, 2010 at his home. Marty retired as Vice President of Human Resources for Motorola in July 2009, after 26 years of service. He was a board member of United Way of Barrington for over 8 years. He graduated from Edina High School in 1970 followed by the University of Minnesota Duluth. Marty loved to travel and saw the world as a place to honor and get to know people while respecting their cultures and beliefs both in business and socially. He taught his children, by example, to experience life all over the globe. He believed in being part of the community you live in. Golf, wine, gardening, caring for his home and being at the lake were his passions. Marty devoted himself to his wife, children, family and friends. We will always remember him for his thoughtfulness, wit, and sound guidance on how to do the right thing in the right way. Marty is survived by his wife Jeanne Lee (nee Boyd), children Matthew Martin (Michelle) and Meghan Christine Rogers, his father Donald Rogers, sisters Peggy (Lon) Baumgardt and Nancy (Berney) Kullos, brothers Dan (Judy) Rogers and Greg (Peggy) Rogers, his father-in-law James W. Boyd, and brother in law Jim (Patti) Boyd. Marty was the loving uncle of Amy, Kirstin, Katy, Pat, Nick, Ryan, and Heather Rogers, Gabriel Baumgardt, Mitch, Ben, and Maggie Kullos, and Justin and Ashley Boyd. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne M. Rogers and his mother-in-law, Donna M. Boyd. Memorials may be made to the Barrington United Way, P.O. Box 733, Barrington, IL, 60011.
