Mary "Molly" Catheren Tobin

Mary Catheren Tobin (“Molly”) passed away peacefully at the Care Center in Bentley Village in Naples, Florida on Sunday morning, January 8, 2023.
Molly was born on February 13, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to parents of Irish descent, Cornelius “Neil” (1885 - 1939) and Cecilia Lynch (1900-1971). She graduated from the Midland High School, Midland, Michigan in 1948. Subsequently, she worked as an administrative assistant for Dow Chemical prior to her first marriage in 1952.
Molly’s seven children from her marriage to James Carol Tobin, brought her much joy. Molly found much pleasure in playing golf and bridge, sewing, quilting, knitting, needlepointing, crocheting and painting. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends and was loved by all.
Molly also treasured trips with children, in later years to Ireland, Scotland, Italy and China. With her second husband, Jack Keller, Molly enjoyed several ocean and river cruises, and a beautiful cottage in Petosky, Michigan.
Molly is survived by her seven children, Kevin, Carol, Cathleen (Saffa), Susan, Daniel, Peter and Michael; her son-in-law, Farris Saffa (Cathleen), her two daughters-in-law Karen (Peter) and Julia (Michael). Molly’s memory lives on with seven children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Tobin, second husband, Jack Keller; brother, John Lynch; sisters, Margaret Anne Van de Voorde, Joan Walsh, and Maureen Meath; and great grandson, Ford Summers.
Molly’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2:30PM, with visitation beginning at 1:30pm at Davenport Funeral Home, Barrington, IL.
