Matthew W. Cornwell

Matthew W. Cornwell, age 32, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023, with his beloved family by his side. He was the loving son of Kevin and Susan (nee Ruff) Cornwell; devoted brother of Sarah (Austin) Monroe, Daniel (Kimberly) Cornwell, and Aubrey (Tyler) Martik; dear uncle to Delilah Cornwell, Henry Monroe, Elliot Monroe, and Marin Monroe; cherished grandson of the late William M.D. and late Jo Ann (nee Wall) Ruff, and Patricia (nee Riley) and the late Earl Cornwell; loving partner to Tori Gora and her son; and adored nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

Matt was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan and an avid lover of the Chicago Bears. The simplest things in life made him the happiest, like watching a sports game with his twin brother, having a family cookout, chasing his nieces and nephews in the backyard, and creating a warm, loving home for his family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Homes and Crematory - Crystal Lake (419 E Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL). The funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023. Friends and family will gather at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (111 South Hubbard St., Algonquin, IL) at 10:00 AM for a visitation until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery.
