Michael J. Melbourn, Sr.

Michael (Mike) Melbourn, a beloved father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on September 17th, 2023, leaving a void in our hearts that can never be filled. He was 64 years old.

Mike is survived by his loving children, Michael (Maggie) Melbourn, Ryan (Kaelyn) Melbourn, and Megan (Tommy) McGrath, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Graham and Grant. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Nick and Sharon Melbourn, his caring siblings, Lori Murphy, Rick (Julie) Melbourn, Jenny (Frank) Jefferson, Chris (Alyssa) Melbourn, and many nieces and nephews.

Professionally, Mike worked as a truck driver for many years, a job that perfectly suited his love for the open road and his strong work ethic. His hobbies and interests included fishing, woodworking, and shooting at the range. Beyond his hobbies and career, Mike was a family man through and through. He had an unwavering love for his children and grandchildren, and he took great pride in watching them grow and thrive. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a strong sense of family values.

Mike Melbourn will be remembered for his warm heart, his sense of humor, and his ability to make those around him feel special. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Thursday, September 28th, 2023 between 4:00pm-8:00pm at Davenport Funeral Home in Crystal Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mike's memory to Glioblastoma Foundation.

As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember Mike with love and gratitude for the wonderful memories he created and the love he shared. May he rest in peace, knowing that he will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
