Mildred Helen Granger, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026 at the age of 87.
She was born April 20, 1938 in Swanton, VT, the daughter of the late Robert and Jane (Menard) Raine.
Millie was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving her country with honor from 1956 to 1958. She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—bowling, playing bridge, gardening, shopping, and attending craft shows. She cherished time spent with her girls and took special delight in caring for her grandchildren, famously making the very best chocolate milk just for them. Millie also loved birdwatching and could often be found tending to and feeding the birds she adored.
Millie is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Dennis; her daughters, Cheryl (Marc) Kuta, Teri Mascote, and Robin Kosek; her grandchildren, Jason Flores, Steven (Desirae) Coffman, Ana Maria (Jadrian) Hanko, Marisela (Brian) Espinosa, Samuel Mascote, Ryan (Sally) Bowe, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Bowe, Misty (Brad) Bowe; her 21 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Kenneth (the late Nancy) Raine, Barbara (the late Arthur) Boyle, and Ronald Raine; and her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Raine; and her brother, James Raine.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1st, from 3-7 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) Crystal Lake. Visitation will continue the following day, Monday, February 2nd, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
