Nadiya-Lyubov Yaremko, 79, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Born on May 15, 1946, Nadiya-Lyubov grew up in Lviv, Ukraine. She was the daughter of Petro and Yevgenia Kravets, and the sister of Ihor Kravets.
Nadiya attended Lviv secondary school, where she formed lifelong friendships and interests. She played an accordion and brought the love of music throughout her whole life, always enjoying dancing with her husband, singing, and listening to her favorite Ukrainian songs. She later continued her education at the Lviv Polytechnical Institute, where she worked as a chemical engineer and where she met her future husband, Ivan Yaremko. They got married in 1971 and spent 54 happy years together, raising two beautiful daughters, Maryana and Anna.
The name Nadiya-Lyubov, translated from Ukrainian, means "Hope-Love." Her life was indeed full of hope and love, which she shared with and instilled in others. Nadiya was deeply kind and caring, always putting others' needs before hers. Whether it was family, friends, neighbors, or acquaintances -- she was always ready to help those in need. Nadiya was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren, and raising a beautiful family was her greatest accomplishment. She loved hosting dinner parties, cooking and baking for everyone around her, and spending hours on the phone catching up with her many friends. Nadiya had a great sense of humor and always loved to joke. Her favorite meal -- and her last -- was a pint of ice-cream and a few sips of dark beer.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Ivan; her children, Maryana (Sasha Kushnir) Yaremko and Anna (Bill) Nolan; grandchildren, Khrystyna (Adrian) Szczepaniec, Katya Nolan and Jonny Nolan; her brother, Ihor (Lyubov) Kravets; and many nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Petro Kravets and Yevgenia Kravets, and her infant granddaughter, Angelina Nolan.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 2 PM until 4 PM with a funeral service starting at 4:15 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private. A reception will immediately follow in Roselle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMANA - Ukrainian Medical Association of North America or Revived Soldiers Ukraine.
