Nancy Lee Wandzel

Nancy Wandzel, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of Algonquin, passed away Wednesday February 18, 2026 at the age of 79.

Born January 13, 1947, the daughter of the late Frederick and Evelyn (Whitam) Boyd, she was raised in Highland Park, New Jersey. She graduated from Upsala (N.J.) College and received her Masters Degree from Rutgers (N.J.) University.

She later moved to Southern California and lived in Denver, Yuba City and Sacramento before moving to Algonquin in 2007 to be close to her children.

She delighted in hosting gatherings for both family and friends and loved going on beach vacations and to tennis tournaments with her loving husband of 37 years, Andrzej.

Nancy is survived by her husband Andrzej, her son Dylan (Denise) Tomlinson of De Pere, WI and her daughter Whitney (Carter) Brett of Barrington. She is also survived by her five grandchildren Macy Brett (22), Audrey Brett (20), Riley Tomlinson (19), Brady Tomlinson (18) and Max Brett (12). She is also survived by her siblings Fred (Dawn) Boyd of Rocklin, CA and Pamela (David) Hatchett of Elk Grove, CA.

A small service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Barrington.
