Otto Ternes

Otto Ternes, 77, of Village of Lakewood, formerly of Palatine, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 1, 2022. He was born on September 21, 1944 in Czechoslovakia to Jakob and Monika Ternes.

On April 11, 1970 he was united in marriage to Gabriele, nee Pareigat, in Chicago. Together they celebrated 52 wonderful years and were blessed with 4 children. He was a proud member and coach of Chicago Kickers Soccer Club. His greatest joy was supporting his kids and grandkids from the sidelines of the soccer field. Otto owned Ternkirst Tool & Die for over 40 years in Elk Grove Village, where he was a successful part of the community.

In addition to his wife, Gabriele, Otto is survived by his children, Peter (Christine), Mark, Richard (Margaret) Ternes and Suzanne (Eric) Schwantje; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Karsten, Cade, Claudia, Dereck, Olivia, Sebastian and Anna; his siblings, Marianne (the late Herman) Wohrstein, Klara (the late Wolfgang) Reimer, Agathe (Hans) Quintas, Herta (the late Gerhardt) Ott. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Otto’s life will be held privately.
