Patricia Annyce Butzen Fraser, of Lake Barrington, passed away January 26, 2026 at the age of 101.
She was born November 22, 1924 in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of the late Francis and Marie (Slivensky) Butzen.
Pat was a devoted mother to her seven children and dedicated her life to caring for and supporting children in every stage of her life. She worked for many years as a teacher’s assistant, touching countless young lives with her patience and kindness. Pat found joy in the arts, participating in community theater and lending her beautiful voice to church choirs wherever she lived. She had a sharp mind and a love for puzzles and game shows—memories made sweeter by her appearance and win on Wheel of Fortune. A lifelong Chicago sports fan, she followed her teams with enthusiasm. Above all else, Pat treasured time spent with her family, who were always the center of her world.
Pat was the cherished mother of Lynne (Steven) Small, Gail (Jim) Kenny, Mary Lou (Terry) Lubrano, Michael (Suanne) Fraser, James (Linda) Fraser, Joan Stromberg (Sam D’Amico) and Susan (Joe) Cole; grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 34.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Fraser.
Visitation will be held on January 31, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marcelline Catholic Church, 822 South Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60193. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.
