Patricia Lu DelGhingaro

Patricia (Pat) L. DelGhingaro, 87, of Village of Lakewood passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Born to Louis and Lillian (Chase) Matterer in Fond Du Lac, WI on June 13, 1935, Pat moved to Chicago at the age of 18 and met the love of her life, Virgil “Jiggs” DelGhingaro. They celebrated 62 years of marriage just before Virgil’s passing in 2018.

Pat loved everything about fashion and worked many years in the retail clothing industry. She enjoyed raising a family, painting, cooking, hosting large family gatherings, and spending time with their dogs. But most of all, Pat loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. So much so she created a family holiday, Leaf Day, which is still being celebrated more than 38 years after its inception.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Michael) O’Donnell, Caryn (Steve) Roderick, and David (Kristen) DelGhingaro, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 3pm until 6pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.  Mass will be Monday, March 6, at 10am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave, Crystal Lake with a visitation to start at 9am.
