Patricia Joanne (Meyers) Kingston, 90, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2026.
Born to Clarence and Ruby Meyers in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, on August 26, 1936, Patricia grew up in Chicago with her three siblings. An athletic and spirited youth, she excelled in sports and music, even earning a spot on the Chicago Bluebirds professional women's baseball team. Though her mother did not allow her to play, Patricia never lost the vibrant, active energy that defined her.
After high school, Patricia moved to Cary Grove, Illinois, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Goodhand Kingston. They married on July 30, 1960, and built a beautiful family, centered on God, community and service. Patricia spent most of her adult life in Crystal Lake, balancing factory jobs raising her children, and maintaining her home.
A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a dedicated member of the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was known for her remarkable whistling skills. In retirement, she and Kenny answered a call to the mission field, joining Wycliffe Bible Translators to serve and share their faith in Peru and Mozambique.
Patricia leaves behind a rich legacy of love and faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth, and her brothers, Mick (Darwin) and Bill. She is survived by her sister, Norma; her four children, Kim, Mark (Barb), Colleen (Stuart), and Craig (Cris); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held this Friday, October 30. A visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral at 12 PM at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake at 575 E. Crystal Lake Ave., with burial to follow at Algonquin Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church until 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s honor to Wycliffe.org or EFCCL.org.
Your song on earth is done, but your spirit will echo in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace, Mom.
