Patricia McArdle

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pat McArdle, aged 85, who departed this life on June 6, 2025 peacefully at home with her husband, John “Jack” McArdle, by her side.

Pat was born on November 12, 1939 in Elgin, Illinois to Arthur and Irene Conro. She grew up in Elgin and later moved to Crystal Lake with her loving husband, Jack. While raising her three loving children, Pat enjoyed hosting celebrations and bringing the neighborhood community together. Later in life, Pat enjoyed spending time with Jack attending Irish festivals, seeing movies, going to her favorite concerts, and taking her daughter and three youngest grandchildren to see musicals such as Wicked and Phantom of the Opera, which were some of her favorites.

Pat met the love of their life, Jack in 1956 while attending St. Edward’s. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on February 4, 1961. The inseparable couple loved spending time traveling North and South in the states, Hawaii, Door County, on Viking River Cruises, Disney World, and their most memorable surprise trip to Ireland in 2009 for Pats 70th birthday. No matter where they traveled to they made friends along the way and Pat made sure to find a souvineer shop and whale watch.

She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her homemade peanut butter cookies, generous spirit, and compassion towards anyone she met. She touched the lives of many through her work at Coventry Elementary School in Crystal Lake, IL, and brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always very protective of all children and made sure no one was ever left behind.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Jack, and three kids Keith (Julie) McArdle, Jeff (Debbie) McArdle, and Kelly (Mike) Anderlik. Pat is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kathryn McArdle, Drew (Erin) McArdle, David Anderlik, John Anderlik and Brent Anderlik and great grandchild, Theo.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Davenport Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Following the visitation, there will be a mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.  A committal service will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park. All who knew and loved Pat are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society (if you would like to specify, breast cancer or pancreatic cancer is preferred) in Pat McArdle’s honor.
