Patricia Elizabeth Valentine

Patricia Elizabeth Moran Valentine passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Pat was born on July 11, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1952, then went on to college at the University of Toledo where she met her husband, Gary. Pat received her degree in Education and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

As newlyweds, Pat and Gary moved around from Toledo, to San Francisco, eventually putting roots down in Chicago with their four sons, Mark, Michael, Timothy, and Patrick.

Pat thrived in her teaching career. She taught at St. Thomas of Villanova in Palatine, Illinois for many years. After she retired, she went on to substitute teach. Several of her grandchildren have fond memories of Pat subbing in their classroom.

Pat and Gary enjoyed traveling, including many trips to Europe and various cruises. Pat also loved to golf, alongside Gary as well as in women’s leagues around Chicago.

The couple retired in Fort Myers, Florida where they enjoyed the warm weather and company of family and friends. Here, Pat remained an active member of the Pi Beta Phi alumnae group and member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization.

Patricia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Linda), Michael (Ellen), and daughter-in-law, Susan; her grandchildren, Erin Valentine, Derek (Renee) Valentine, David (Shawn) Valentine, Lindsey (Fred) Martinez, Laura Valentine, Brittany Valentine, Brooke (Ian) Brown, and Sean (Hannah) Valentine; her great-grandchildren, Trevon, Haley, Lexi, Maddison, Rylee, Sloane, Michael; and her sister, Mary (Art) Mancini.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and James Moran, her husband Gary Valentine and her sons Patrick and Timothy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 10, from 9:30am until the time of the funeral Mass at 10:30am at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 N First St, Cary. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
