Patrick Monahan

Patrick A. Monahan Ill died on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 in Lake Zurich, Illinois. He was born to Patrick A. Monahan, Jr. and Julia (Galloway) Monahan on March 16, 1941 in Dallas, Texas.

Raised in Dallas, then in Irving, Texas, he graduated from Jesuit High School in 1959. Five years later he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English. He worked as an insurance underwriter for many years and later did home delivery of the Chicago Tribune.

He married Susanna Slabodnik on July 23, 1966 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth, Minnesota. They had six children and raised their family in Denver, Colorado; Phoenix, Arizona; San Jose, California; and Lake Zurich.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Jill; sons Patrick, Christopher, Nicholas (Jill), Zane, and Oliver; granddaughters Savannah and Kayla. Also remaining are his brother Joseph (Katherine), and sisters Julia (late Thomas) Ballard, Teresa (late Michael Fiddes), and Carole (Henry) Sepulveda). He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas and sister Jeanette (Terence Meany).

A Mass of Christian Burial for the repose of Patrick's soul will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, October 15, 2026, with a visitation the hour prior at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL. Masses Preferred.
