Paul H. Azzaline, of Cary, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born May 10, 1942 in Oak Park, IL to the late Marion and Emma (nee Noble) Azzaline.
After graduating from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1960, Paul enlisted in the United States Army where he served four years of active duty. After completing his service, he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. In 1965, Paul married the love of his life Molly and together raised four children. Paul worked for over 30 years in the food and beverage industry as a mechanical engineer until he retired as a Vice President from Rexam. When Paul wasn’t at work, he was deeply involved in raising his children; whether it was volunteering for gymnastic meets/baseball/softball games or just cheering them on from the sidelines.
Paul was an avid golfer, fisherman, a fantastic chef, and loved to travel with Molly. Paul enjoyed attending Jimmy Buffett concerts with his fellow parrot heads, and he lived for attending his grandkids’ music and sporting events. When he wasn’t doing these things, he enjoyed spending time with a good book or a crossword puzzle, and a glass of wine.
As an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, he enjoyed participating in numerous church activities and loved volunteer opportunities such as building homes on several men’s mission trips to help with post Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts.
Paul is survived by his wife Molly; his children, Heather (Rick) Jewell, Chris (Jill) Azzaline, Elizabeth (Doug) McGowan and Andrew (Heidi) Azzaline; his grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Bridget and Katie Jewell, Ryan and Gavin Azzaline, and Alexandra and Ian McGowan; his brother, Phil (Linda) Azzaline; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, David Azzaline, a nephew, Nathan Azzaline, and two brothers-in-law, George (Susan) Rochon and Orrin F. (Charlotte) McIntyre Jr.
A memorial service for Paul will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at First Church of Crystal Lake, 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Visitation will begin at 9AM and a service will be held at 11AM.
