Loving husband, father, grandfather, US Army veteran, and police officer.
The family of Paul Martin Sprenger of Wauconda, IL is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 83.
He is survived by wife Jennie; sons Paul (Patricia), Michael (Monjula), and Steven (Michelle); and grandchildren Matthew, Arianna, Priya, Avanni, Kailani, and Olivia.
Paul was born in Chicago where his lifelong love of streetcars began as he rode throughout the city with his younger siblings John and Helen any chance he could. When he was a teenager his family moved to Wisconsin to run a dairy farm where he learned what hard work truly meant. After a return to the Chicagoland area, Paul graduated from Barrington High School in 1959. He took college courses and entered the Catholic seminary before ultimately choosing a different life path.
Paul enlisted in the United States Army in 1963 and served with distinction as a military police officer. Upon returning from deployment in Korea with the Eighth Army, he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where he met and married Jennie. It was also at Fort Bliss that he developed a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles while serving as a Motor Officer in the MP motorcycle unit.
Paul and Jennie returned to the Chicagoland area to start a family and Paul served as a police officer for over 30 years in Barrington, Illinois. They lived in Wauconda, Illinois for over 50 years until moving in 2022.
Paul enjoyed many interests and hobbies including model railroading, streetcars, operating trolleys at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL, playing the accordion and concertina, and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Paul is dearly missed by his friends and family, and his unwavering integrity is a hallmark of his legacy.
