Peggy (Sexton) Whitcher

Peggy Whitcher was born on July 27,1947 and passed away at home, surrounded by the love of her family,  on February 6, 2024.

A retired teacher/school administrator, Peggy loved and worked with thousands of children over a 30 year career in multiple states. Peggy loved her Drill Team girls and some of her favorite memories were from those long practices, summer camps and competitions. 5,6,7,8 and SMILE were two of her favorite phrases.

Peggy loved to travel the world but her most loved places were always tropical. She loved the ocean and she had a passion for sea turtles. Her two favorite pastimes were scuba diving and having her toes in the sand, facing the ocean and drinking a margarita while reading a good book.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Merle Whitcher. Peggy and Merle had two children: Jeniffer (Lance) Neuses and Casey Whitcher both of Cary, Illinois. Peggy’s pride and joy were her grandchildren: Viviana, Daniel, and Audrey Neuses and Chiara Whitcher.

Peggy will rejoin her parents, Harley and Vivian Sexton and infant sister Lucy in her heavenly home.

Jeniffer (Lance) and Casey would like to thank everyone for their support, kindness and love over this past week.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Peggy on February 17, 2024 from 2-4pm at Galaţi’s Hideaway in Cary, Illinois. We request that everyone wear bright colors and share a favorite memory of Peggy.
